Van bidprentje : Voor Ma waren Pa and haar kinderen alles. Ze stond vol overgave altijd voor hen klaar. Vol toewijding heeft zij als echtgenote aan de zij van Pa gestaan. Ze heeft van hem gehouden. Als moeder and echtgenote is verdriet haar niet gespaard gebleven. Zo verloor ze Harry al 10 dagen na zijn geboorte. Tiny verongelukte op 15-jarige leeftijd. Van Pa heeft ze afscheid moeten nemen toen hij 60 jaar oud was. De verwerking van het overlijden van Pa viel haar erg zwaar.
Ze heeft tijd nodig gehad om het huis aan de Kerkenweg als veilig thuis te ervaren. Een thuis waar zij het middelpunt van de familie vormde. Zij had haar kinderen and kleinkinderen graag om zich heen. Als het aan haar lag, was dit alle dagen zo. Het samenzijn als gezin in een goede verbondenheid was voor haar uiterst belangrijk. Zij maakte op haar manier van elk bezoek een feest. Haar levensmotto was: "Dat het de kleine dingen zijn die het doen."
Bij bezoek was Ma in haar nopjes. Betrokken als ze was op de ander, hield ze van de ander. Ze stond klaar om je te verwennen and te verzorgen. Het liefst wilde ze je zo lang mogelijk bij je houden. Zolang je bleef zitten, bleef je tenminste nog even.
Haar woorden bij elk afscheid waren: "Weerkomm'n".
Ondanks de lichamelijke pijnen and kwellingen and de vele operaties die de rheuma and bijkomende ziektes met zich brachten, bleef ze levenslustig, vitaal and ondernemend and zag ze er altijd goed verzorgd uit. Ze knokte and deed haar oefeningen; soms wat te energiek; wat ze dan achteraf moest ervaren. De hang naar leven heeft ze tot haar eind volgehouden.
De verhuizing van de Kerkenweg naar de "Kloosterhof" is voor haar een grote stap geweest. Zij heeft hier mooie jaren gekend, wonend naast haar liefste vriendin and oude buurvrouw. Ida heeft 23 jaar lang de verzorging van Ma op zich genomen. De laatste woorden van Ma waren: "Ida bedankt". Ma ondervond grote steun aan haar geloof and heeft ons dat voorgeleefd. Ze zei gesterkt door het H. Sacrament der Zieken: "Ik geef mij over, want ik ben in goede handen." Ze wist zich veilig in Jezus' armen. We nemen afscheid van haar vol vertrouwen in God, dat wij elkaar bij Hem terug zullen zien. Daughter of
